Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs of the Chinese Government Qian Bo Attends the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting

On September 1, 2026, Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs of the Chinese Government Qian Bo attended the Leaders Dialogue with Dialogue Partners of the 55th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting in Palau and delivered remarks. Chinese Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia Wu Wei also attended the session.

Qian Bo stated that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both sides, new progress has been made in building the China-Pacific Island Countries (PICs) community with a shared future. China appreciates that the overwhelming majority of Forum members firmly adhere to the one-China principle, and will continue to uphold the principle of "Four Full Respects", work with Pacific Island countries to firmly support each other's core interests, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, focus on the actual needs of the Pacific Island countries, and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides, so as to better benefit the peoples of both sides. Qian Bo announced China's vision and initiatives in supporting the energy transition of Pacific Island countries, building blue partnerships, and expanding trade and investment cooperation, which were well received and welcomed by all parties.

During the Forum, Qian Bo also met separately with the leaders and dignitaries of Pacific Island countries that have diplomatic relations with China.
