2 February 2026, Chișinău - From 2 to 4 February, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi will pay a working visit to the institutions of the European Union in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium.
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi will hold talks with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas; the European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius; the Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Council, Pedro Lourtie; the Secretaries-General of the Council of the European Union and the European External Action Service, Thérèse Blanchet and Belén Martínez Carbonell; as well as the Director-General for Defence Industry and Space of the European Commission, Timo Pesonen.
The visit to Brussels also includes an intensive programme of meetings at the European Parliament, including with two Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament, Victor Negrescu and Nicolae Ștefănuță; the Chairs of the Committees on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defence, and the European Democracy Shield, David McAllister, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann and Nathalie Loiseau; as well as the Co-Chairs of the EU-Republic of Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, Siegfried Mureșan, and of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, Sergey Lagodinsky.
The head of Moldovan diplomacy will take part in a public event organised by the European Policy Centre dedicated to the security, resilience and European path of the Republic of Moldova, and will meet with the Secretary General of the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association, Camille Grand. Minister Mihai Popșoi will also give interviews to Euronews and the Euractiv media platform.
The visit aims to deepen dialogue with the EU institutions in the context of the Republic of Moldova's accession process, with a focus on cooperation in foreign policy, security and defence, as well as EU support, including through the Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova.
