(BOWIE, Md.) - The Bowie State Bulldogs (9-7, 1-3 CIAA) pulled off a stunning 76-73 victory over the Howard Bison (8-10, 3-0 MEAC) in front of 2,100 fans at Burr Gymnasium. The win marked a high point in the Bulldogs' season, showcasing their resilience and determination against a strong, Division I opponent.

Led by a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds from Warren Mouganda, along with 12 points and five assists from Justin Morrisey, the Bulldogs demonstrated exceptional teamwork. Bowie State shot an impressive 50% from the field and 45.8% from 3-point range, overcoming a strong Howard offense spearheaded by Cameron Shockley-Okeke's 26 points and eight rebounds.

Head coach Darrell Brooks, a proud Bulldog alumnus now in his 15th season, was full of praise for his team's resilience and poise in a tough, high-stakes road environment.

"The Howard win was huge for us for a few reasons," Brooks said. "First, it was Howard University which is one of the top HBCUs in the country. They're a Division I school and local opponent. Our guys played very well in a tough championship-type atmosphere. We executed our game plan, and everyone stepped up when it mattered most."

Bowie State's depth was a crucial factor in the win, with Victory Naboya delivering a key 12-point performance off the bench in just 19 minutes of play. The Bulldogs' defensive and their ability to capitalize on crucial moments-whether in fast breaks, key rebounds, or defensive stops-allowed them to hold off the Bison in the closing minutes. It was a team effort that highlighted the Bulldogs' versatility and hunger for success.

Looking ahead, the victory over Howard is a major confidence booster for Bowie State, setting the stage for an exciting second half of the season. The Bulldogs will look to build on this momentum as they return to conference play in the CIAA. Fans can follow their journey and support the team as they prepare for a strong postseason push. As the team prepares for the CIAA Basketball Tournament next month in Baltimore, the Bulldogs are ready to rise to the challenge and prove they're a force to be reckoned with in the postseason.
