Overnight detours scheduled at Colonial Life Boulevard and I-126 Interchange in Richland County

Columbia, S.C. (October 11, 2024) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct temporary overnight closures of the existing I-126 ramps at Colonial Life Boulevard. Drivers will be detoured using the Greystone Boulevard/Riverbanks Zoo interchange at I-126.

The detours will begin the evening of Sunday, October 13, at 9:00 p.m. and end on Monday, October 14 at 5:00 a.m. On Sunday evening, both the entrance and exit ramps will be closed and detoured. On the evenings of Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17, weather permitting, only the I-126 westbound exit ramp will be closed and detoured each night.

These temporary closures will allow SCDOT to safely complete the retaining wall construction currently under way along I-126 westbound at the Colonial Life Boulevard interchange as part of Phase 1 of the Carolina Crossroads Project.

Note that all dates are subject to change based on weather conditions. Visit the project webpage for other project information and updates. The public may also call the Project Hotline at 800-601-8715.

Signs will be posted to direct motorists through the detour route. Drivers may experience temporary slowdowns and stops in traffic and are advised to use caution, plan accordingly, and follow posted instructions. Eastbound and Westbound detour maps can be found below.
