Miami-Dade County Mayor hosts ribbon-cutting ceremony for new Ibis Garage at MIA

Today, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, in collaboration with the Board of County Commissioners, Miami International Airport Director Ralph Cutié, and the Lemartec Corporation, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Ibis Garage at MIA - one of the signature projects within the airport's $9 billion Modernization in Action (M.I.A.) Plan. The $137-million, seven-level garage will add 2,240 parking spaces at MIA, joining the airport's Dolphin and Flamingo garages to provide a total of more than 10,500 spaces, and just in time for the winter holiday travel season.

"

Parking accessibility and convenience at MIA just took a giant leap forward with the opening of the new Ibis Garage. Travelers can now find a parking space quickly and easily than ever before, which decongests our other garages and the terminal space as well. The Ibis Garage also marks the latest historic milestone in the progress of our M.I.A. Plan, which is transforming every step of the passenger journey at MIA through upgraded conveyance systems, renovated restrooms, and new future-ready concourses, all scheduled for completion within the next five years.

The Ibis Garage also features sustainable elements, including 50 spaces dedicated to electric vehicle charging, energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures, and a Parksmart Silver Certification design, the global standard for environmentally responsible and high-performing parking structures. Lemartec, a nationally recognized construction management firm, designed and completed the new parking facility ahead of schedule.

"

Delivering the IBIS Garage six months ahead of schedule is a testament to Lemartec's leadership and what can be achieved when dedicated professionals, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to excellence come together. At its peak, Lemartec's team of nearly 200 worked around the clock to maintain a safe, efficient, and coordinated jobsite without disrupting the flow of traffic at one of the nation's busiest airports. This achievement reflects not only the expertise and pride of our employees, but also the trust and collaboration we share with Miami-Dade County and Miami International Airport. We are honored to support the County's vision and deliver an infrastructure asset that will serve the community for decades to come.

The Ibis Garage is one of more than 200 projects within the M.I.A. Plan. Other major projects include: modernization and preventive maintenance for more than 600 elevators, escalators, and moving walkways; renovation of 196 public access restrooms located on all three levels of MIA's terminal and concourses; the new Concourse K expansion scheduled to open in 2029; and the $745-million Central Terminal redevelopment project, which will modernize MIA's oldest terminal area by 2031.
