São Paulo, October 7, 2026 - On Wednesday, October 7, Netflix released the official trailer for On Behalf of My Son , Gabriel Martins' new film, starring Rejane Faria. The trailer introduces Vicentina, a 75-year-old retired teacher who, after losing her son in a tragic bus accident, decides to seek out the victims' families to apologize on his behalf. In the trailer, Rejane is Vicentina, a grieving woman on a search for answers. After the accident that claimed the life of her son Wesley, who was driving the bus, makes headlines and raises questions about his responsibility in the tragedy, she decides to seek out the victims' families to apologize on his behalf. Through encounters and silences, she attempts to piece together her son's final moments and to find a way to cope with her own grief and move forward. The film, a collaboration between production company Filmes de Plástico and Netflix, features Rejane Faria, Flávio Bauraqui, Giovanna Heliodoro, Giovanni Venturini, Grace Passô, Karine Teles, Maíra Azevedo, Renato Novaes and Thalma de Freitas in the main cast. Following its international premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and its selection for the official competition at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, On Behalf of My Son now arrives in Brazil to compete in the 28th edition of the Rio Film Festival. The feature was also selected by the Brazilian Film Academy to represent Brazil in the race for the 2027 Goya Awards. On Behalf of My Son premieres at the Rio Film Festival this Friday (October 9), opens in select theaters on November 5, and premieres on Netflix on November 20. About On Behalf of My Son Synopsis: A packed bus is heading towards downtown Belo Horizonte on a sunny morning. As it crosses the viaduct, the vehicle suddenly swerves, veers off the road and plunges into the avenue below. One passenger is seriously injured, while everyone else - including Wesley, the driver - is killed. The tragedy dominates television news and newspaper headlines across the country. Security cameras on the bus and on the road capture the moment of the accident, and after the footage is analyzed, speculation begins to spread that the driver may have acted deliberately. Vicentina, a 75-year-old retired teacher and Wesley's mother, is devastated by the tragedy and unable to see a way forward. She decides to seek out the victims' families and apologize. The road ahead proves difficult, and the answers Vicentina is so desperately seeking are not always the ones she finds.
