On Monday, January 13, 2025, members of the Boston Police Human Trafficking Unit working in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit conducted an investigation to address sexual exploitation victims in the areas of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard.
Detectives observed an online advertisement for a victim that they were aware was sexually exploited and a victim of violent assaults. Detectives contacted the phone number and made arrangements for a meetup.
At about 8:18 PM, detectives observed a motor vehicle park at 69 Boston Street. Detectives immediately became aware that the front seat passenger was the known victim. The victim exited the vehicle and entered the location.
At this time, detectives converged on the motor vehicle and placed the suspect into handcuffs. Detectives conducted a search incident to arrest and recovered a plastic bag of Crack Cocaine, and a glass jar containing two more plastic bags of Crack Cocaine.
The suspect, Sacharis Gathers, 20, of Braintree, was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking for Sexual Servitude, Deriving Support from Prostitution, Possession of Class B (crack cocaine), and an outstanding straight warrant for Violations of the Auto Laws. He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court today.
