Dear Arcadia,
As 2025 draws to a close, I want to pause and reflect on all that we have shared as a community.
This year began unlike many others, as the Eaton, Hollywood, and Palisades fires ravaged our region. In the face of tremendous loss and hardship, our family, friends, and neighbors came together to offer help, donations, and to open their homes to those in need. These moments of compassion and selflessness are a powerful reminder of what makes our community resilient and special.
Despite these challenges, Arcadia experienced new growth and exciting milestones! This year, Arcadia solidified its place on the world's stage as a venue city for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We also celebrated the completion of long-awaited court upgrades at Tierra Verde and Newcastle Parks and gathered at events like the Summer Concerts and Movies in the Park, the Moon Festival, and those hosted by Downtown Arcadia. These moments of connection among Arcadians reflect the very heart of our City.
I must also acknowledge the senseless shootings at Bondi Beach and Brown University this past weekend. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by these terrible tragedies. In moments when division can be overwhelming, I encourage everyone to seek understanding, find common ground, and practice empathy.
It has been an honor to serve as your Mayor, and I look forward to continuing my stewardship of Arcadia in the year ahead. I am committed to being your advocate, listening to your concerns, and working towards the betterment of this City.
Happy holidays, Arcadia. I wish you all a season of joy, peace, and prosperity.
Mayor Kwan
