ASEAN-Korea Centre to Hold 'ASEAN Week 2025' from November 11 to 16
- A platform to foster people-to-people exchanges and practical cooperation in Korea,
following the ASEAN-ROK Summit held in late October -
- Expanding cultural, economic, and media exchanges across Seoul, Jeju, and Ilsan -
The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Jae-shin) will host ASEAN Week 2025 from November 11 to 16 in Seoul, Jeju, and Ilsan. Following the ASEAN-ROK Summit recently held in Malaysia, where President Lee Jae-myung outlined his vision for advancing the ASEAN-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), the event is designed as a comprehensive platform to carry forward this spirit of cooperation through people-to-people exchanges. Since its launch in 2019, ASEAN Week has become a flagship platform that connects ASEAN and Korea.
ASEAN Week 2025 will feature a series of programs, including the 'Commemorative Ceremony: Completion of the 10 ASEAN Benches at the ASEAN-Korea Olle', the 'ASEAN Journalists Invitation Program' and 'ASEAN-Korea Media Forum', as well as the 'ASEAN Trade Fair 2025'. Through these, the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) seeks to expand practical cooperation in various fields such as culture, economy, and media, while planning to promote cooperation between the people of ASEAN and Korea.
Ten Symbolic Benches Representing ASEAN Member States Installed Along the Jeju Olle Trail
ASEAN Week 2025 will commence with the 'Commemorative Ceremony: Completion of the 10 ASEAN Benches at the ASEAN-Korea Olle', to be held at Parnas Hotel Jeju on November 11.
Hosted by the AKC, with the support of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and the Jeju Olle Foundation, the event marks the culmination of AKC's efforts to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of ASEAN-Korea Dialogue Relations, during which the 'Jeju Olle Trail 8 Route: ASEAN-Korea Olle' was designated in November 2024. This year's ceremony aims to further promote ASEAN tourism to Jeju and enhance cultural and tourism cooperation between Jeju and ASEAN.
As a symbol of mutual friendship, ten commemorative benches, each representing one of the ASEAN Member States (AMS), have been installed along the Jeju Olle Trail. Approximately 100 distinguished guests are expected to attend the ceremony, including Ambassadors of the ten AMS to Korea, the Vice Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, the CEO of the Jeju Olle Foundation, and leading journalists from prominent media outlets of AMS.
ASEAN and Korean Journalists to Convene for the Media Forum
The AKC will organize the 'ASEAN Journalists Invitation Program' from November 11 to 15. The program is designed to enhance media networks between ASEAN and Korea while raising public awareness across the ASEAN region of the AKC flagship programs and the growing ties between the two regions. The AKC will invite approximately 20 journalists from the ten AMS, nominated by the ASEAN Embassies in Seoul and the Asia News Network (ANN).
The participating journalists will cover the programs of ASEAN Week 2025, including on-site reporting and interviews with Korean government officials and ASEAN Ambassadors to Korea, as they travel across Seoul, Jeju, and Ilsan. In conjunction with the program, the 'ASEAN-Korea Media Forum' will be held on November 12, co-hosted by the AKC and the Korea Press Foundation.
The Forum will bring together journalists from ASEAN and Korea to discuss key themes under the titles "The Future of the ASEAN-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" and "The Future of ASEAN-Korea Cultural Exchange: K-Culture as a Bridge." Journalists will come together to exchange insights on the evolving ASEAN-Korea relationship.
ASEAN Trade Fair: Where ASEAN Flavors Meet the Korean Market
The 'ASEAN Trade Fair 2025' will take place from November 13 to 16 at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2, Hall 6, in Ilsan. A total of 80 food and beverage (F&B) companies from the ten AMS will participate, showcasing a wide variety of signature local food and beverage products and engaging in business meetings with Korean buyers. The exhibition will comprise four main zones - the F&B Booth Exhibition, ASEAN Country Pavilions, B2B Business Meeting Zone, and ASEAN Market Zone - where each country will present representative ASEAN specialties such as kaya jam, coffee, cookies, chocolates, and dried fruits, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the authentic flavors of Southeast Asia.
In the Business Meeting Zone, one-on-one consultations will be held between ASEAN companies and Korean buyers.
The AKC Secretary General Kim Jae-shin stated, "ASEAN Week 2025 has been organized as a platform for leading figures and journalists from ASEAN and Korea to come together and engage across diverse fields such as culture, economy, and media." He added, "We hope this year's ASEAN Week will serve as an opportunity to expand practical cooperation in line with the ASEAN-Korea CSP, revitalize people-to-people exchanges, and further strengthen mutual trust and solidarity between the two regions."
