September 11, 2025

Memphis Light, Gas and Water is rolling out a new tool to ensure that no cones or barricades are left behind. With nearly 5,000 street cuts each year, clearing equipment from neighborhoods is an ongoing challenge.

The utility is asking customers to assist by reporting any abandoned barricades, cones or other MLGW equipment through mlgw.com/contact. Reports can be filed by entering a street address, intersection, or by identifying the location on the map. Customers may also upload photos to help crews respond more quickly.

MLGW encourages residents to take part in this effort: See it. Snap it. Report it. Together, Memphis can keep streets clear and communities safe.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving the residents of Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee since 1939. MLGW consistently provides customers with rates that are amongst the lowest in the nation and stewards a water supply from artesian wells that is minimally treated. Actively engaged in promoting the prosperity of Memphis and Shelby County, MLGW supports the seven local chambers in its service area and makes doing business with local, minority- and women-owned business a priority. Deeply rooted in the community, its employees generously donate time and money in support of bettering the Greater Memphis area.
