Recognition reflects Gilbane's commitment to proactive health and safety leadership across Nevada operations

Reno, NV - October 14, 2026 - Gilbane Building, a leading global builder, announced that its Nevada team has earned Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star recognition from the Nevada Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) for its commitment to workplace health and safety.

VPP recognizes employers and workers who have implemented effective health and safety management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national averages for their respective industries. Gilbane received VPP status following a comprehensive evaluation of its health and safety programs, employee engagement, training, and approach to hazard prevention and control.

"Achieving VPP Star recognition is a testament to the dedication of our people, trade partners, and clients who make health and safety a top priority every day," said Rich Arndt, Nevada business leader, Gilbane Building. "This recognition reflects our commitment to creating and maintaining safe, healthy workplaces through proactive planning, continuous training and a culture where every team member is empowered to speak up and take ownership of safety."

Working in partnership with SCATS through the VPP process, Gilbane's Nevada team evaluated its existing health and safety programs and identified opportunities for continuous improvement. The process also reinforced employee involvement in health and safety efforts including Gilbane's Recognize, Respond, Respect (R3) model, which encourages team members to recognize risk, respond when concerns arise and respect one another. This reflects Gilbane's continued focus on strengthening the culture, behaviors, and systems that support physical safety, mental health and wellbeing, and respectful environments where people can thrive.

"Gilbane's participation in VPP demonstrates their commitment to ensuring their Nevada Mobile Workforce maintains a healthy and safe workplace for their team members," said Todd Schultz, chief administrative officer, SCATS. "Throughout the VPP process, Gilbane demonstrated effective safety management systems, employee engagement and training programs. We're proud to partner with them to support their safety goals."

Gilbane has a longstanding commitment to advancing health and safety throughout the construction industry. In Nevada, Gilbane continues to expand its presence, supporting clients and communities across healthcare, higher education, public works, and commercial markets. The company's current work includes the new Nevada State Public Health Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Reno, as well as projects supporting longstanding clients throughout the state.
