ICE picks up Dominican criminal suspected of voter fraud

NEW YORK, N.Y. - A citizen of the Dominican Republic and U.S. lawful permanent resident, Randy Pierre-Louis, was charged with making false statements related to voter registration and visa fraud Oct. 23. He was arrested following an investigation by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations New York.

"Election security is national security," said ICE Assistant Director of Public Affairs Micah Bock. "The votes of American citizens should never be diluted by aliens illegally voting in U.S. elections. Only American citizens should be electing American leaders."

Pierre-Louis, who entered the U.S. in July 1990, was convicted of robbery in 1994 and was charged with weapon possession in 2012. After ICE arrested him, he was transported to United States District Court for the Southern District of New York for arraignment. ICE has since lodged an immigration detainer.

This investigation reflects HSI New York's continued commitment to protecting the integrity of the nation's electoral process through coordination with federal, state and local law enforcement partners.
