On January 28, 2026 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Sekreta, chaired a meeting of the Commission on Foreign Policy Support of Historical Policy of the Republican Council on Historical Policy under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
For reference: The Commission includes representatives of the Ministry of Information, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Academy of Education, the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, as well as the heads of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.
The meeting reviewed the results of the Commission's work in 2025 in various areas, including the preservation of historical truth on the international stage and the prevention of the revision of the outcomes of the Second World War, as well as the publication of new thematic books and collections of documents, including those on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.
The Commission also discussed the work plan for 2026, which includes various events both in Belarus and abroad dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, the Year of the Belarusian Woman, as well as significant events and commemorative dates in the history of Belarus.
