Associate Planner Alexander Salgado Helps Shape Bellflower’s Future
The City of Bellflower is pleased to recognize Associate Planner Alexander Salgado in this month's Employee Spotlight. His dedication to long-term planning helps guide the City's development.
After earning his master's degree in urban and regional planning from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and building a career in consulting, Alexander brought his expertise to Bellflower's Advanced Planning Team this past June.
In his daily role, Alexander helps guide Bellflower's long-term growth by aligning local policies with state requirements and planning for the community's future needs. His current work includes the proposed Arts District Overlay Zone, along with efforts to streamline permitting programs and modernize the Municipal Code to make development more accessible.
The constantly evolving nature of planning keeps the work exciting for him.
"I love that I get to keep researching and growing as planning laws evolve," Alexander said. "Plus, I get to work alongside a team that genuinely puts the Bellflower community first."
Growing up in the cities of Downey and Bellflower, Alexander has a personal connection to the community he serves. Coming from a large Southeast Los Angeles family, his weekends were spent at local events that taught him the true value of community.
"I am a proud product of the Gateway Cities, so getting to work on Bellflower's future is the dream job I've always hoped to find," he shared.
Outside of City Hall, Alexander enjoys exploring the world with his wife and young son. He recently started a weekly walking group for local dads to build community close to home. As a fun daily tradition, he and his son have watched an episode of the anime series "One Piece" every day since his son was born.
