Aggravated Discharge

(PEORIA, IL) On Friday, August 22, 2025, at approximately 2:23 p.m., Peoria Police responded to the 2400 block of W. Wiswall following a ShotSpotter alert indicating four rounds were fired.

When officers arrived, no victims were located. Due to the close proximity of the incident, a nearby high school was temporarily placed on lockdown as a precaution.

During the course of the investigation, officers identified a juvenile male, 15, who matched the description of a suspect seen fleeing the area on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended the juvenile and transported him to the Peoria Police Department for questioning.

No injuries were reported during this incident. Manual High School did sustain damage as a result of gunfire.

While searching the suspect's flight path, officers recovered a discarded firearm and other related evidence. The juvenile was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Handgun Under 21, Possession of Ammunition Under 21, Obstructing/Resisting, and Criminal Damage to Property. The juvenile was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.

This incident remains under investigation.
