Shoutout to the ATU Workforce Development Department!

Tuesday, September 23, 2025
Shoutout to the ATU Workforce Development Department! Under the visionary leadership of International President John Costa, the Workforce Development Department is setting the standard for the future of the transit industry. Today, Costa joined the Department staff, including Department Director Jamaine Gibson, at ATU Headquarters to discuss our cutting-edge training, which promotes a culture of safety and leadership within the transportation industry.
President Costa's words say it all. "Our members are the backbone of public transportation, and it's our responsibility to ensure they have the training, resources, and support needed to thrive in a changing industry. I'm committed to creating opportunities for all transit workers to grow, lead, and succeed. We won't leave any transit workers behind. In fact, we're bringing them to the forefront and building a pathway for long-term career growth. We're putting workers first and changing lives."
President Costa's commitment goes beyond just training. He wants to empower workers to take charge of their own careers, ensuring they have the tools to navigate the challenges of today's transit industry. Through educational programs, specialized certifications, and leadership initiatives, the ATU is providing workers with a real competitive edge.
Thank you to the dedicated staff, leaders, and all the transit workers who continue to push the industry forward. You are the true driving force behind our communities, and we couldn't be more proud of the work you're doing every day!
