Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin Visits CBK’s Governor Basel Al-Haroon

On May 19, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Basel Al-Haroon, Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).

Ambassador Yang Xin said China and Kuwait enjoy a longstanding friendship that has grown even stronger over the years. The important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah charts the course for the substantive development of bilateral relations, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields including the finance sector have kept deepening. China stands ready to work with Kuwait to further bolster our financial cooperation and offer robust support for alignment of our development strategies and advancement of our practical cooperation so as to elevate the bilateral strategic partnership to new heights.  

For his part, Basel congratulated Ambassador Yang on his appointment, and commended China's unwavering support for Kuwait's economic and social development at a time of heightened regional tensions. He stressed that Kuwait attaches high importance to its cooperation with China, and expressed a willingness to work with China, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, to keep expanding financial cooperation and deliver greater benefits to the two peoples.
