Dr. Geralde Gabeau leads Immigrant Family Services Institute Inc., a leading Boston-based organization to support and protect immigrants
Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) announced that Dr. Geralde Gabeau will be her guest at the 2026 State of the Union. Dr. Gabeau leads the Boston-based Immigrant Family Services Institute Inc. (IFSI), which works to support immigrant communities and protect immigrants' rights.
"Dr. Gabeau's leadership shows us what it means to wake up every day and stand up for what's right. Immigrants are our neighbors, friends, and community members - and Donald Trump's cruel immigration agenda and ICE's violence are making all of us less safe," said Senator Warren. "Dr. Gabeau's work makes our communities stronger, and I'm proud to have her by my side."
"It is an honor to join Senator Elizabeth Warren in Washington, D.C. at this critical time for immigrant communities," said Dr. Geralde Gabeau, Founder and Chief Executive Office of IFSI-USA. "We are deeply grateful for her leadership, and for the leadership of others, to protect Massachusetts' thriving Haitian immigrant community by defending Temporary Protected Status. TPS is a lifeline that allows Haitian families to remain stable, contribute to key industries, and strengthen communities across our nation. Preserving TPS is not optional; it is essential."
After a federal judge stayed the Trump administration's attempt to revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from hundreds of thousands of Haitians across the country, Senator Warren responded, saying: "families shouldn't be separated, our neighbors shouldn't be ripped from their homes, and businesses shouldn't lose their staff at Trump's whim." Days prior, Senator Warren led over 50 colleagues in investigating some of the harmful consequences of the Trump administration's efforts to end TPS for Haitians.
Senator Warren has also led the charge to stop ICE's violence across the country, including recently introducing legislation to establish the strongest federal watchdog to enforce ICE reforms and rein in the rogue agency.
