Nearly 50 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members gathered in Oklahoma City Oct. 20-21 for the state resolutions committee meeting.
The meeting served as a major step in the organization's policymaking process where committee members considered nearly 300 grassroots policy proposals submitted from county Farm Bureaus from across the state of Oklahoma.
The committee considered resolutions spanning an array of top agriculture topics, including conservation, data centers, New World screwworm, the Asian longhorned tick and more.
The state resolutions committee is comprised of Farm Bureau members from the 28 counties selected to serve on the resolutions committee as well as representatives from the Women's Leadership Committee, Young Farmers and Ranchers and the state board. Committee members were divided into five sub-committees for initial consideration and discussion, and the resolutions that passed sub-committee were then considered by the full group.
The nearly 80 policy proposals that advanced through the state resolutions committee will now be up for consideration by the full delegate body when they are heard on the floor at the OKFB Annual Meeting Nov. 6-8 in Oklahoma City. Resolutions that pass at the annual meeting will be added to the OKFB Policy Book, which guides the organization at the state Capitol and beyond.
