The City of New Orleans Supports the Dedicated Women and Men of the New Orleans Police Department
NEW ORLEANS - Today, Mayor LaToya Cantrell acknowledges the unwavering dedication and hard work of the women and men of the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) for their commitment to constitutional policing, which has contributed to the continued decrease in overall crime in the city.
Our NOPD is steadfast in its mission and will continue to protect and serve at the highest level during the sustainment period announced today.
Mayor Cantrell affirmed that the City will continue to make key investments in the department, focusing on recruitment, retention, new equipment, and advanced technology. The NOPD stands ready to collaborate with former Commissioner Bratton, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and local law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of major special events and the daily protection of our residents and visitors.
