WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Representative Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10) announced Dominion High School student Elmira Fazeli as the winner of Virginia's 10th Congressional District's Art Competition. Elmira's piece entitled "Isolating Peace" will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol's Cannon Tunnel for the next year alongside winners from around the country.
"Congratulations to our winner Elmira Fazeli and to all of our honorable mentions. My office received over 80 submissions this year, and we were blown away by the talent and creativity of the students. I am so grateful to the parents and teachers for supporting these students. Each of the unique pieces made me and the judges think and feel, which shows the talent of young artists in our district. I look forward to displaying the art created by our honorable mentions in my DC and Leesburg offices," said Rep. Subramanyam.
Rep. Subramanyam hosted the VA-10 Art Competition reception in Ashburn last week for students and their families. The Congressional Art Competition, sponsored by the Congressional Institute, is a bipartisan annual event that celebrates the artistic talents of high school students across the nation. The competition is in its 45th year.
