ALTOONA, Pa. - "Debris Archive," a body of work by multidisciplinary studies student Clarissa A. Henebury, will be on display Jan. 23 through Feb. 9 in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. A reception will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Titelman Study of the Center. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
Henebury works primarily in charcoal, gouache, printmaking, and handmade papermaking. Her work draws inspiration from the natural environment, contemporary social culture, and her personal journey through motherhood. In this exhibition series, Henebury uses tactile materials and layered processes to evoke the persistence of microplastics and the emotional residue of the human impact. Each piece is a fragment of a larger archive - an attempt to reconcile beauty with consequence and intimacy with global scale. "My work is often a way of listening to what is often silenced, forgotten, or ignored and giving it space to form."
During her time at Penn State Altoona, Henebury earned Overall Choice in the Student Government Artists Contest and was featured multiple times in the campus arts magazine "Hard Freight." Her academic excellence has been recognized with the President's Freshman Award for achieving a 4.0 GPA in her first semester, and she has also earned consistent Dean's List honors.
