UAA's Harrison 1st Team, Mack HM in GNAC awards

Portland, Oregon (March 3) - UAA women's basketball standouts Mahaila Harrison and Elaina Mack were honored Tuesday as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference handed out its postseason awards, with Harrison earning First Team All-GNAC recognition.

A sophomore from Vancouver, Washington, Harrison is the league's second-leading scorer at 17.7 points per game, producing double figures in 22 of 27 games and posting six double-doubles. The 6-foot wing had big games of 32 points and 11 rebounds against Seattle Pacific, 31 points and 10 rebounds against Colorado Mines, and 29 points and 12 rebounds against Northwest Nazarene, while producing multiple steals on 17 occasions. A transfer from Div. I VCU, Harrison also holds GNAC ranks of eighth in rebounding (7.0 rpg), seventh in steals (1.9 spg) and 11th in free throw percentage (.746).

Meanwhile, Mack earned honorable mention all-conference recognition for the second year in a row. A senior guard from King Cove, Alaska, she ranks fifth in the league with 16.1 points per game, while pacing the league and ranking eighth in NCAA Div. II with 2.8 three-pointers per game. The team captain scored double figures 21 times in her final season, including a school-record-tying 41 points in the Nov. 8 win over Northwest, and holds other GNAC ranks of eighth in three-point percentage (.352), 16th in rebounding (5.4 rpg) and second in minutes (35.0 mpg).

Mack finished No. 14 on UAA's all-time scoring list with 1,128 points and broke the program record for career three-pointers per game with 2.12, along with career ranks of third in three-pointers made (237), 16th in three-point percentage (.358) and field goals made (410), 14th in games started (84), 18th in games played (112) and 20th in victories (80).
