On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 2000 block of Southeast 170th Avenue. When they arrived, officers determined a male was likely armed and barricaded inside the residence. PPB's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to assist. Over the course of the next two hours, PPB's tactical teams tried to make contact with the male, but he remained barricaded inside the home, refusing to comply with police commands. Shortly before 9:00 p.m., the male exited the residence and was taken into custody. He was then transported to an area hospital for medical care. A firearm was recovered.

Portland Police Bureau tactical teams, including the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), are responding to the area of Southeast 170th Avenue and Southeast Division Street to assist with a welfare check call.
Traffic will be impacted as a stretch of Southeast Division Street will be closed.
