Cedar Street Bridge inspection begins March 16

PEORIA - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that an inspection of the Cedar Street Bridge (Illinois 8/116/MacArthur Highway) over the Illinois River begins March 16.

The routine inspection will reduce the bridge to one lane in each direction between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day through March 27, weather permitting.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
