Over 90% of child safety seats are not used properly, putting infants, toddlers and small children at risk of being seriously injured or killed in a traffic crash. That's why the Albany County Traffic Safety Program is hosting a free child safety seat check again on April 11th.
We've been doing this for over 20 years to help parents and caregivers protect their children in motor vehicles. By hosting these events, we ensure that the children are properly protected by replacing expired, damaged, or recalled car seats or seats that are inappropriate for use by a child. We will also be checking for counterfeit seats to advise parents and caregivers about the dangers associated with them.
Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on site to check child safety seats, correct errors and instruct parents and caregivers how to use and install their child safety seats correctly. There is no fee for this service. No appointment is necessary.
The Albany County Traffic Safety Program Child Safety Seat Checkup will be held on Saturday, April 11 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Crossgates Mall Overflow Lot next to Washington Ave. Extension in Guilderland.
Event sponsors are:
Albany County Department of Public Works - Traffic Safety Education Program
Capital Region Safe Kids
NYS Governor's Traffic Safety Committee
