The latest Google AI literacy resources all in one place

As an educator for over two decades and a parent of a second grader, I'm encouraged by how new AI-powered tools can address many of the daily challenges I once faced in the classroom. Of course, the ability to use these new tools to effectively support learning outcomes requires training. At Google, we believe it's our responsibility to support students, teachers and schools in using the power of AI.

That's why, alongside our research-backed AI learning features, we're continuing to invest in AI literacy programs and resources that can now be easily accessed in our new AI Literacy hub. Here is a look at some of our latest AI resources and learning tools for parents and guardians, students and educators:

AI literacy for parents and guardians

Parents and guardians play a critical role in supporting kids' and teens' responsible and effective use of AI, which is why we're launching new resources to support families.

  • Introducing a new podcast for parents: Tune into "Raising kids in the age of AI," a new podcast created by The AI Education Project (aiEDU) in collaboration with Google. Co-hosted by aiEDU founder Alex Kotran and child development expert Dr. Aliza Pressman, this series offers expert perspectives on how AI is enhancing the future of learning and education. Episodes will begin dropping on September 25; subscribe today.
  • Using Google's latest AI tools to support kids' learning: Our new video series teaches parents how to use our newest AI features like Guided Learning to break down homework questions step-by-step, and how to help their children prepare for exams with custom study guides, or even kick off a creative project or essay.
  • Reaching parents across all 50 states: Our ongoing collaboration with the National Parent Teacher Association (NPTA) to provide parents with online safety and AI literacy content has reached nearly four thousand parents across 50 states. This school year, we're expanding our efforts with in-person hands-on AI workshops and partnering with Connect Safely to distribute helpful guides on how to use our latest Al tools for learning.

AI literacy for students

We're launching new resources and programs designed to help boost students' AI skills, while understanding the guardrails around responsible AI use.

  • New AI Literacy curriculum from Be Internet Awesome: Foundational AI literacy lessons designed to help educators prepare elementary and middle school students for safe interactions with AI are now available within the Be Internet Awesome curriculum.
  • An expanded Experience AI: The AI course developed by Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind has reached an estimated 1.7 million young people globally, with 95% of educators agreeing the sessions have increased their students' knowledge of AI concepts. The program is being expanded to the U.S. this fall.
  • AI Quests: This game-based, code-free AI learning experience created by Google Research and the Stanford Accelerator for Learning allows middle school students to step into the shoes of researchers and experience the AI lifecycle firsthand. Starting today, AI Quests will be embedded into Experience AI and CRAFT by Stanford and available to any AI Literacy provider, teacher or student. Learn more in our blog post.

Middle school students can step into the shoes of researchers and experience the AI lifecycle firsthand with the all new AI Quests game based learning experience.

AI literacy for educators

We're continuing our commitment to support educators with new AI skills and resources.

  • New AI literacy resources and training for educators: We've launched a company initiative to upskill as many education professionals as possible on AI. So far we have trained over 650,000 educators thanks to Google for Education's Champions, Partners, and Googler-led training programs, via dedicated courses and a Gemini space to come together on our Community Platform.
  • Grants to advance AI literacy at scale: Since announcing Google.org's investment of $40 million in AI literacy, these grants have benefitted more than 13 million students through the support of organizations such as AI4K12, which provides on-the-ground teacher professional development integrating AI into courses aligned to their 5 Big Ideas in AI. This also includes access to Gen AI for Educators with Gemini, a course to help teachers build AI into their practice. The funding also supported App Inventor's 'Educator Collaboratives' efforts to create teacher champions and communities of practice on how to use their AI-powered app development platform in classrooms.
