NEWS: Resolution Introduced by Senators Blunt Rochester and Tuberville to Celebrate Career and Technical Education Teachers Adopted by Senate Unanimously

Washington, DC - U.S. Senators Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), the ranking member and chairman of the Senate Education & the American Family Subcommittee, introduced a resolution celebrating the impact of career and technical education (CTE) educators and work-based learning coordinators. Today, the resolution was adopted by the Senate unanimously.

High-quality CTE prepares students for a lifetime of success - in the classroom and in the workplace - and supports workforce pipelines that bolster the broader American economy. The resolution was introduced during February which marks Career and Technical Education Month.

In addition to Senators Blunt Rochester and Tuberville, the resolution was cosponsored by Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Katie Britt (R-Ala.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Jim Justice (R-W.Va.), Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Angus King (I-Maine), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.).

"CTE empowers students with skills and career awareness, and continuing to grow CTE programs will benefit not only students, but also our national competitiveness by helping build a prepared workforce," said Senator Blunt Rochester. "But as we know, the heroes of CTE are the educators who provide the quality instruction and career learning opportunities to students every day. As we close out Career and Technical Education Month, I am proud to have been joined by Senator Tuberville to introduce this bipartisan resolution and celebrate and thank our CTE educators and work-based learning coordinators for the work they do."

"Our schools should make sure students are set up to succeed in life, not just the classroom," said Senator Tuberville. "AI has changed the game when it comes to today's workforce. There's no reason why we shouldn't be preparing students to be successful in today's job market starting in high school or even earlier. As Chairman of the Education and the American Family Subcommittee, I'm focused on expanding technical and career educational opportunities for our young people. I'm grateful for Alabama's career and technical educators who are equipping the next generation with the real-world skills that will lead to good-paying jobs."

Senator Blunt Rochester has been a leading supporter of CTE in the Senate. In December 2025, she led Education & the American Family Subcommittee Democratsin a hearing that examined the importance of CTE and encouraged workforce development that will support the 21st century economy. Also in December 2025, Senator Blunt Rochester introduced the Workforce of the Future Act, legislation aimed at assessing the impact of AI on our workforce. In September 2025, she introduced the bipartisan Immersive Technology for the American Workforce Act, which would help community colleges and CTE schools integrate virtual and augmented reality into their programs.

The resolution celebrating CTE educators was endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers, the Association for Career and Technical Education, Advance CTE, and the National Education Association.
