The Fairfield Clergy Action Network (CAN) invites the community to attend a Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the County Lawn, located at 600 Texas Street.
Vice Mayor Pam Bertani will emcee the event, which will feature food trucks, live music, children's activities. The celebration will offer a faith-centered space for the community to gather, reflect, and honor the meaning of Juneteenth.
Historian Olando Harris will also attend and share his knowledge about Juneteenth, its history, and its continued significance.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, received word of their freedom more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, Juneteenth serves as a national day of remembrance, reflection, and celebration.
Community members are invited to bring family, friends, and neighbors for an afternoon honoring freedom, history, and unity in Fairfield.
