The City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department is inviting all community members to attend the Suicide Awareness Resource Fair on September 10, 2026. The event will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Gateway Park Lodge, located at 3800 Davenport Drive.
This vital community gathering is focused on providing education, support, and life-saving resources to individuals and families in the River Region. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with knowledgeable vendors, mental health professionals, and trained counselors who will be on site to offer guidance, information, and compassionate assistance.
Current participating vendors include COSA, Baptist Health Behavioral Department, and George Ishman, M.S., L.P.C., with additional resource partners expected to join as the event approaches.
In a show of solidarity and hope, community members are encouraged to wear teal or purple-the official colors of suicide awareness. While not required, these colors serve as a powerful visual reminder of unity and support for those affected by suicide.
Individuals seeking more information or wishing to participate as vendors may contact Cathy Shuford at 334-625-4787 or [email protected].
The event is free and open to everyone. Organizers say that simply showing up can make a meaningful difference.
