ARUP Experts Will Share Insights Focused on Strengthening Laboratories at ASCP KnowledgeLab 2026

At the upcoming American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) KnowledgeLab 2026 conference, ARUP experts will present on topics tailored to strengthening clinical laboratories and lab leadership, including an in-depth discussion on strategies for hospital laboratories to launch or grow a successful outreach program.

ASCP KnowledgeLab brings together current and aspiring clinical laboratory leaders in a conference focused on practical, actionable strategies for improving laboratory operations and enhancing lab leadership skills. ARUP experts will participate in several sessions throughout the two-day conference.

Sandy Richman, MBA, C(ASCP), vice president of ARUP Healthcare Advisory Services, will copresent a session titled, "Expand Your Reach: Unlocking Hospital Laboratory Potential Through Outreach." Richman will describe how the laboratory can serve as a strategic partner in the health system by driving new revenue through laboratory outreach. He'll also discuss the key elements required for operationalizing an outreach program.

Richman will be joined by Christina Nickel, MHA, MSL(ASCP)^CM, CPHQ, laboratory director for Bryan Health, who will provide a real-world case study about building a successful hospital outreach program.

"Hospitals and health systems are under constant pressure from declining reimbursement rates, increasing costs, and staffing shortages. In this difficult environment, hospital laboratories have a unique opportunity to grow revenue and strengthen system margins," Richman said. "With a vibrant outreach program, hospital labs become a strategic partner to the health system while serving more patients in the local community."
