The City of Hayward City Council proudly recognized local student artists and writers during the 43rd Annual Earth Day Poster & Writing Contest Awards Ceremony held on April 21, 2026, at City Hall. The annual contest invites Hayward students in grades K-12 to creatively express their thoughts on Earth Day and environmental stewardship through artwork, essays, and poetry. Hayward students showcased their creativity and commitment to protecting the environment through thoughtful messages and colorful artwork. This year's submissions explored important environmental themes including water and energy conservation, renewable energy, sustainable transportation, recycling and composting, litter prevention, and environmental justice.
