Man Fatally Injured After Construction Accident

Detectives are investigating Wednesday morning's apparent accidental death of Stephen Mattson, 42, at a construction site at 3015 Ambrose Avenue.

The preliminary investigation shows that a worker, who was tasked with moving lumber up a hill to the main site, was operating a forklift truck when he said that the electronics suddenly powered off. The truck began to roll backward, down the hill, as he unsuccessfully tried to brake and maneuver away from Mattson, who was operating an excavator at the bottom of the hill.

Mattson was pinned between the truck and excavator. He died at the scene.
