Treasurer Smith Announces ISave 529 Winter Giveaway, Encourages Iowans to Give the Gift of Education

With the holiday season approaching, State Treasurer Roby Smith is encouraging Iowans to think beyond traditional gifts and give something that can make a lasting impact on a child's future. To celebrate the season of giving, Treasurer Smith is announcing the ISave 529 Winter Giveaway, where four lucky winners will each receive a $529 ISave 529 account contribution.

"One of the greatest gifts we can give a child is a head start on their future," said Treasurer Smith. "Whether they're dreaming of becoming a teacher, veterinarian, engineer or something entirely different, ISave 529 helps families turn those dreams into possibilities. The ISave 529 Winter Giveaway is a great way to get started or add to the savings you've already built."

Iowans can learn more by visiting ISave529.com/contest. Giveaway entrants also have opportunities to earn additional entries by taking steps to grow their education savings. Opening an account or receiving contributions through Ugift, after they have registered for the giveaway will help you earn extra entries!

"Grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends are often looking for meaningful gifts during the holidays," Smith continued. "With Ugift, they can contribute directly to a child's ISave 529 account and help make future education and career goals a reality."

In addition to the giveaway, Treasurer Smith is spreading holiday cheer and encouraging children to dream big through a special activity kit initiative. Libraries, daycares and other groups across Iowa are receiving activity materials designed to help children explore their interests and imagine their futures.

The kits feature activities such as career-themed coloring pages, future goals word searches and time capsule worksheets where children can write down their dreams to revisit in the years ahead. Families can also use special Ugift coloring pages to share a child's education savings gift code with loved ones, making it easy to put their dreams on their holiday wish lists.

"Every child has a dream, and we want to help families start conversations about what those dreams could look like," added Smith. "These activities are a fun way to get kids excited about their futures while reminding parents and loved ones that it's never too early to start saving."
