NOPD Announces Preliminary Crime Statistics for January 12-18, 2025

The following is a weekly report of citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analytics Unit for the period of January 12-18, 2025.

Notable arrests made

During the listed week, the NOPD also made the following notable arrest(s):

  • On January 13, the NOPD arrested Anjanau "Henny" Davis (black female, DOB: 10-14-1999) in its investigation of a fatal shooting of a store employee which occurred during a robbery attempt on December 31, 2024, in the 4600 block of Alcee Fortier. Davis, the third suspect arrested in this investigation, was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of principle to second-degree murder.
  • On January 16, the NOPD arrested a 15-year-old juvenile and Caine Moore (black male, DOB: 03-29-2006) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on January 1, 2025, in the 8500 block of North I-10 Service Road. Both suspects were arrested by members of the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the Federal Fugitive Task Force. The juvenile suspect was booked into the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center on one count of second-degree murder, while Moore was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on the same charge.

Gun arrests (arrests made under LA RS 14:95 and sub-items)

Year to date, the NOPD has made 13 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm. This is a 59-percent decrease compared to 32 arrests made during the same period in 2024.

Gun seizures

Additionally, as of January 13, the NOPD in 2025 had seized 86 firearms in criminal investigations, a 36-percent decrease compared to 136 such seizures made during the same period in 2024.
