Judicial Evaluation Survey Is Now Open

The D.C. Bar Judicial Evaluation Committee invites Bar members who appeared before a select group of judges on the D.C. Court of Appeals and D.C. Superior Court within the past two years to provide feedback on the judges' performance.

Findings from the annual evaluations provide valuable insight into judicial performance, highlight best practices, and support the Bar's commitment to strengthening the administration of justice. The 2025-2026 judicial evaluation survey runs from November 12, 2025, through January 9, 2026.

Two D.C. Court of Appeals judges - Associate Judges Joshua Deahl and Roy McLeese - are being evaluated during this survey period.

Additionally, 23 D.C. Superior Court judges are up for evaluation, including:

• Senior Judges Ronna Beck, Harold Cushenberry Jr., Henry Greene, Peter Krauthamer, Zinora Mitchell-Rankin, Robert Morin, Frederick Weisberg, and Rhonda Reid Winston; and
• Associate Judges Rainey Brandt, Kendra Davis Briggs, Laura Crane, James Crowell, Andrea Hertzfeld, Deborah Israel, Kimberley Knowles, Shana Frost Matini, Carmen McLean, Jason Park, Carl Ross, Robert Salerno, Veronica Sanchez, Darlene Soltys, and Steven Wellner.

Attorneys who had a case pending before one or more of these judges during the 24-month period - July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2025 - are eligible to participate.

The D.C. Bar has partnered with Research USA, an independent research organization, to administer the survey to ensure confidentiality. Eligible members should have received email messages directly from the vendor. Bar members who do not receive an email with the survey link from Research USA by November 15 and are eligible to participate may contact Research USA at [email protected].

After the evaluation period closes on January 9, the D.C. Bar Judicial Evaluation Committee will present the confidential and anonymous results to the chief judges of the D.C. Courts and to the District of Columbia Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure, as well as to the individual judges selected for evaluation.
