Winnipeg, MB - At 5:35 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey house in the 200 block of Young Street.
At the scene, crews found heavy black smoke coming from the building. Firefighters rescued one person from the house. Everyone else safely self-evacuated. At the same time, other firefighters attacked the fire with an offensive strategy.
Paramedics transported one patient to hospital in critical condition and one patient in stable condition. A firefighter sustained an injury at the scene, and paramedics transported them to hospital in stable condition.
Firefighters declared the fire under control at 6:22 p.m.
The City of Winnipeg's Emergency Social Services team responded to the scene to provide temporary assistance to displaced residents.
The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
