Today, Rep. April McClain Delaney (MD-06) released the following statement:
"When Donald Trump turned the Kennedy Center into a monument to himself, I introduced legislation to stop him.
"Today, a federal judge-following Congresswoman Joyce Beatty's legal challenge-ruled that Trump's name was illegally added and reaffirmed that only Congress has the authority to make that change.
"This ruling validates what we argued from the beginning: the Kennedy Center belongs to the American people, not to Donald Trump or any president seeking to put their personal brand on a national treasure.
"This is an important victory, but the fight isn't over. Congress must act to permanently prevent presidents from using our national institutions, memorials, and landmarks as vehicles for self-promotion."
