SWOSU Student Wins HALO Giveaway at Organizational Fair

The Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) at SWOSU in Weatherford recently held a giveaway during the university's Organizational Fair, welcoming new members and encouraging students to get involved on campus. The fair introduces students to a wide variety of organizations, helping them connect with groups that match their interests and goals.

Freshman Exercise Science major Adrian Montoya from Beaver, Okla. was selected as the winner of the giveaway basket, which included a HALO T-shirt, SWOSU gifts, a notebook, notepads, a pen, cookies and a gift card. The giveaway served as a thank-you to new HALO members who signed up during the fair.

Montoya plans to pursue a master's degree in athletic training after graduation and hopes to become an athletic trainer. In addition to his academic studies, he has expressed interest in pursuing a world languages minor at SWOSU.

HALO at SWOSU creates opportunities for students to lead, serve, and make a difference both on campus and in the community. Members are involved in mentoring, outreach, and educational activities that encourage personal growth and meaningful connections. The organization is now advised by Dr. Tugba Sevin, World Languages Coordinator at SWOSU, who recently stepped into this leadership role.

The next HALO event is Salsa Night, scheduled for Sept. 25 in the SWOSU Ballroom. Updates about HALO's events and activities are available on Instagram @swosu_halo.
