On March 19, 2026, Ambassador for the Affairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Liu Yuxi, upon invitation, attended the reception hosted by the Embassy of Mauritius in China to celebrate Mauritius' Independence Day and the 54th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritius.
Liu Yuxi stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Mauritius have maintained friendly exchanges and achieved positive results in pragmatic cooperation. The recently concluded Two Sessions approved the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan for China, which calls for expanding high-standard opening up and creating a new landscape of win-win cooperation. China stands ready to work with Mauritius to leverage the pioneering advantages of China-Mauritius free trade cooperation, accelerate the implementation of zero-tariff measures in Mauritius, and jointly write a new chapter in the common development of both countries.
Ambassador of Mauritius to China Gaëtan Michel Siew Hew Sam stated that Mauritius and China share a long tradition of friendly exchanges. Mauritius firmly adheres to the one-China principle and expresses gratitude for China's valuable support on its path of development and revitalization. The Mauritian side stands ready to deepen political mutual trust with China, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, and promote greater progress in the strategic partnership between the two countries.
