The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Arsen Torosyan participated in the 4th Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome at the invitation of the parliaments of Italy and Ukraine. Within the framework the Conference Arsen Torosyan had a private conversation with the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko. The Committee Chair also gave a speech during the discussion organized for the parliamentarians.
"Dear colleagues,
Let me express my gratitude to my Italian Ukrainian colleagues for organizing this parliamentary event within the framework of the Ukraine Recovery Conference.
On behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, I would like to underscore how we highlight this process, not only as a practical framework for the restoration of Ukraine, but also as a political and moral obligation for all democratic states. Armenia participated in this conference for the first time last year, and we will remain committed to the restoration of Ukraine and the broader goal of European peace and stability.
Armenia brings to this discussion not only solidarity but also shared experience. We too have lived through the shocks of war, the displacement of civilians, and threats to sovereignty. Our people know from personal experience that peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but a hard-won achievement that requires courage, patience, and dedi8cation.
At this moment, we as a state are engaged in a complex but decisive process of normalizing relations with our neighbour, Azerbaijan. Just yesterday, Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Aliyev held successful talks in Abu Dhabi. Our ultimate goal is to change the security architecture and philosophy of relations in the region, ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus and the surrounding area. We strongly believe that Italy and Ukraine, as well as other European democracies, can play an important role in supporting the peace process in our region.
The mutual recognition of territorial integrity, based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, is the cornerstone of our approach. We are convinced that this same principle should apply throughout the post-Soviet space, including Ukraine.
The parliaments have a vital role to play in ensuring that peace-building, restoration and reform do not remain abstract aspirations but become a reality. In Armenia, we are doing our utmost to support the development of democracy both within our country and beyond. We firmly believe that a democratic Ukraine is essential for the stability and security of the entire region.
Let me conclude by reaffirming Armenia's readiness to continue close cooperation with our European partners, and above all with the people and institutions of Ukraine, as we share the same values.
"Thank you," Arsen Torosyan said in his speech.
