Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with UNICEF Deputy Executive Director for Programmes

On 30 October 2025, H.E. Ms. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Mr. Omar Abdi, Deputy Executive Director for Programmes of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Also in attendance was Ms. June Kunugi, UNICEF Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific.

Both sides exchanged views on cooperation between Thailand and UNICEF on children's rights and child development, the launch of the UNICEF Centre of Excellence on Children and Climate Resilience in Bangkok to address the most urgent challenges of our time, and the consolidated Asia-Pacific Office (APRO) of UNICEF in Thailand, which covers 36 countries, through the oversight of 22 UNICEF country offices.

The Advisor congratulated UNICEF on the establishment of the UNICEF Centre of Excellence to Thailand. The Advisor reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to protect children and younger generations from the risks and impacts of climate change, which has led to more frequent and severe extreme weather events, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
