On February 17, the Happy Chinese New Year Gala Show was held at the Trianon Convention Center in Mauritius. Mauritian President Dharambeer Gokhool, Speaker Shirin Aumeeruddy-Cziffra, Ambassador Huang Shifang, Minister of Arts and Culture Mahendra Gondeea, attended the event with other Ministers and Junior Ministers, MPs, members of the diplomatic corps, other dignitaries and more than 2,500 guests. The event was broadcast live on MBC.
The gala was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Mauritius, and the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius together with the Department of Culture and Tourism of Sichuan Province, China and the China Cultural Center in Mauritius, and performed by the Performance Troupe from Sichuan Province for the "Happy Chinese New Year" Program.
Outside the theater, a Sichuan intangible cultural heritage (ICH) exhibition and demonstration area was set up. Through displays of Sichuan's renowned ICH items-such as New Year woodblock print rubbings, Shu brocade, Shu embroidery, bamboo weaving, and oil-paper umbrellas-along with panda-themed cultural products and tourism brochures, the event showcased Sichuan's rich cultural and tourism resources to the Mauritian public.
