Academic Affairs launches in-house survey to improve undergraduate experience

As part of Wayne State's ongoing efforts to enhance students' learning and experiences, the university will conduct its annual undergraduate student survey, the Survey of Warrior Educational Engagement and Transformation (SWEET), from March 23 through April 24.

All faculty and staff should encourage students to complete the survey. Participation is voluntary, confidential and will take approximately 10 minutes. Students who complete the survey will be given a chance to enter their AccessID to earn one of 21 incentives, including gift cards, parking funds, ticket and transportation packages to Cedar Point's HalloWeekends, or an electric scooter donated by Pepsi.

Conducted by the Division of Academic Affairs, SWEET is an in-house survey designed to examine the undergraduate student journey from start to finish, developed through collaborative, interdisciplinary input from across campus. Last year's SWEET response rate was 11% - an institutional high - and the division has already received feedback that survey results are being used to improve programming and student outreach.

"Student success is at the heart of everything we do at Wayne State, and this is our students' opportunity to tell us about their firsthand experiences, and how we can provide the best support," said interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, Keith E. Whitfield, Ph.D. "Wayne State thrives because of student contributions, and we're here to listen and learn."

Through mostly multiple-choice questions, students can share feedback on their experiences with campus environment and activities, learning and instruction, health and wellness, and more. The survey will also ask questions about students' experiences with faculty, academic advisors and support services, and their courses and study habits.
