Cedar Rapids to hold citywide walk Oct. 2 as part of Healthiest State Initiative

On Oct. 2, the City of Cedar Rapids will hold a citywide walk in support of The Healthiest State Initiative's 14th Annual Walk.

The 2024 Annual Walk is an opportunity to join thousands of other Iowans statewide in a 20-minute walk. In Cedar Rapids, walkers will depart at noon from McGrath Amphitheatre, 475 1st St. SW, on Oct. 2. From there they will walk as a group to Greene Square, where participants will be served a complimentary lunch, sponsored by AARP IA. There will also be a variety of lawn and tailgate games from the City's new Block N' Roll trailer.

"We encourage all residents to participate in this walk, which is designed to promote physical fitness as well as a sense of community," said Stephanie Schrader, Community Services Coordinator for the City of Cedar Rapids.
