Nashville Waste Services (NWS) initiated a safety-first return to residential service this week, where conditions allowed, successfully launching the first week of the department's new collection schedule. Since the new collection schedule began on Tuesday, Feb. 3, NWS crews have navigated the most significant route optimization for the city in over a decade. NWS continues to also provide immediate relief for residents by activating 21 emergency trash sites and waiving fees at all four Metro Convenience Centers through Saturday, Feb 7.
Launch Success by the Numbers
· Exceptional Service Rates: Through the first 72 hours of operation, NWS achieved a99.8% service rate for trashand a99.9% service rate for recycling.
· Internal Performance: NWS crews successfully completed32,288 trash pickupsand43,555 recycling pickups over the first three days of operation.
· 100% Digital Adoption: With the new schedule launch, collection vehicles are now operating using live tablets, retiring paper map-based routes.
Emergency Trash Drop-Off Sites (Open through Feb. 7)
Twenty-one emergency sites remain open to assist residents with accumulated household waste. These sites are for bagged household trash only and will remain active through Saturday, February 7.
Convenience Centers: Fees Waived Through Feb. 7
In addition to the emergency sites above, all four Metro Convenience Centers are open daily (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) with no charge for regularly accepted material disposal through Saturday, Feb. 7.
