On Tuesday, April 8, Richard J. Daley College President Dr. Janine Janosky joined workforce leaders in Detroit for the SME Fusion Manufacturing Workforce Event. As a panelist on "Connecting with Hidden Talent & Building Your Talent Pipeline," President Janosky shared how community colleges, including the one she leads, are developing innovative strategies to connect with underrepresented populations and meet the growing demands of the manufacturing workforce.
The panel focused on identifying and engaging hidden talent, mitigating systemic barriers, and expanding and enhancing the workforce pipeline by offering accessible training pathways and wraparound support. Dr. Janosky emphasized the role community colleges play in bridging education and industry.
"Building a strong workforce talent pipeline means considering and including all populations," she said. "At Daley College, we're thinking and creating innovatively, partnering with local organizations and manufacturers, designing targeted programs, and ensuring students have the resources they need to succeed in college and on the job."
From ESL courses to career coaching and financial support, Daley College is committed to helping every learner thrive. These efforts are essential not only for individual student success, but for the long-term health of the manufacturing industry.
