PR No. 297 UNICEF Appreciates Pakistan Customs for Seamless Facilitation of Humanitar
A delegation of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), comprising Mr. Mustafa Deniz, Deputy Representative (Operations)and Mr. Tanveer Asim, Associate Supply & Logistics, visited Mr. Irfan Javed, Director General, Directorate General of Transit Trade, Karachi, at 12:30 PM today to express appreciation for the smooth and seamless facilitation of UNICEF humanitarian cargo destined for Afghanistan.
During the meeting, the UNICEF delegation acknowledged the effective coordination and facilitation extended by Pakistan Customs in ensuring the timely and efficient movement of humanitarian consignments through Pakistan to Afghanistan.
The Directorate of Transit Trade, Karachi, in coordination with the Directorate of Transit Trade, Peshawar, facilitated the movement of a total of 355 containers of UNICEF humanitarian cargo through the land route of Pakistan. The transit movement was facilitated in accordance with Ministry of Commerce Office Memorandum No. 1(2)/2014-AFG dated 10 July 2026 and Federal Board of Revenue Letter No. 1(9)TBT/2013 dated 10 July 2026, under which transit movement of the humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan through the Torkham Border Crossing Point was allowed.
The UNICEF representatives conveyed their appreciation to the Director General, Directorate General of Transit Trade, Karachi, as well as to the officers and officials who played a key role in facilitating the consignments. They specifically acknowledged the contributions of Mr. Rashid Munir Siddiqui(Director) Transit Trade Karachi, Ms. Zahra Haider, (Director) Transit Trade (HQ), Mr. Ghulam Haider Mahesar(Additional Director), Mr. Athar Naveed(Additional Director)Directorate of Transit Trade, Peshawar and Mr. Shafaat Ali Mirza(Deputy Director)Transit Trade, Karachi.
The UNICEF delegation particularly appreciated the coordinated efforts of Pakistan Customs and the Directorate of Transit Trade in ensuring the efficient processing and movement of the humanitarian consignments. The facilitation enabled the timely delivery of essential humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
The Directorate General of Transit Trade reaffirmed its commitment to providing efficient, transparent and seamless facilitation of humanitarian and international transit cargo, while ensuring strict compliance with the applicable rules, regulations and directives of the Government of Pakistan.
