WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-06) joined more than 100 of his colleagues as an original cosponsor of the Energy Bills Relief Act, a major legislative push to lower utility costs for American households and strengthen the national power grid.
This bill would rescind tax hikes on clean energy, expand federal assistance programs like LIHEAP and the Weatherization Assistance Program, and ensure a more reliable, interconnected national grid.
Additionally, the legislation seeks to protect consumers by preventing energy price manipulation and requiring large corporate users to pay their fair share of electricity costs, rather than shifting the financial burden onto small businesses and residential ratepayers.
"High energy bills are a hidden tax on working families, and it's time we provide some real relief," said Congressman Moulton. "By investing in low-cost clean energy and upgrading our aging grid, we wouldn't just lower monthly costs, we would ensure that our infrastructure is resilient enough to handle the next big storm. This bill is a win for the environment and a win for taxpayers' wallets."
This bill comes at a critical time as families face rising energy demands and extreme weather threats.
