A&M Texarkana Sets Enrollment Records for The Ninth Consecutive Term

TEXARKANA, Texas - Nearly a week into the Fall 2026 semester, Texas A&M University Texarkana has shattered enrollment records once again en route to an unprecedented ninth consecutive term of record enrollment.

Compared to the Fall 2025 semester, the University has seen a 30% jump in the number of students enrolled, with those students taking 32% more credit hours than the previous Fall term. Leading the way is the 2026 freshman class, which has ballooned to a record 764 students (a 46% increase from Fall 2025). The number of new students at A&M Texarkana (including freshmen, transfer students, and graduate students) increased by 30% over the same period, and the University has 68% more students living in campus housing this Fall.

"We're extremely proud of the tremendous growth at A&M Texarkana," said Dr. Venus Hinton, Vice President of Enrollment Management at A&M Texarkana. "But what matters most is that more students are choosing us, staying with us, and completing their degree. That significant momentum in student success reflects the hard work happening across the university to expand access, strengthen the student experience, and help more students graduate."

Dr. Ross Alexander became the Texas A&M University Texarkana President on August 1, 2023. Following his arrival, the growth in enrollment has been nothing short of remarkable. For the period since his arrival, Fall 2023 to Fall 2026, the University has grown significantly in several key enrollment indicators including:

• A 70% increase in enrollment
• A 100% increase in credit hours (which translates into debt reduction and on-time graduation rates)
• A 200% increase in the size of the freshman class
• A 344% increase in freshmen who graduated in the top 10% of their high school class
• 62% more students from Bowie County
• 85% more students from Miller County
• 63% more students from within 100 miles of Texarkana
• Honors College growth of 650%
• A 61% increase in students who are veterans or military-affiliated
• An increase of 150% in the number of student-athletes
